Buy the Craig ‘The Rage’ Book
Hello One Life Left listeners.
It’s cold outside. It’s dark. Soon it will be Christmas, and you know what that means. Greedy family members with their hands out, expecting you to give them something because of a coincidence of genetics. A few pointless skeins of DNA, and I’m obliged to buy you a basket of ‘smellies’ from Body Shop?
F-off Nan.
This Christmas you have another option. Fulfil your familial present-buying obligation while simultaneously extending a contemptuous middle finger to the gift-recipient by purchasing a copy of ’64 Bits of Pain’. That is my book.
Featuring old classics and new poems exclusive to the book, never recorded because they are so incendiary they literally cannot be spoken out loud.
Go here and it can be yours.

ANNvestigating gaming rehab
Anyone who’s listened to this week’s show (btw, don’t I sound really great?) will be up to speed with the Gaming Addiction Treated in Rehab Clinic news. If not, here’s the low down: gaming addiction has been treated in a rehab clinic.
But with a story this big, we won’t just leave it there! Think of all the gamers barely able to prize their withered hands from their SingStar mics, desperate to make that call and book themselves into Broadway Lodge, scared to even consider it because actually they have no idea how much it bloody well costs. Don’t worry game addicts! The industry’s leading ANNvestigator is here for you!
So how much does it cost? £1000 a week is what it costs. That is an all inclusive deal, but still, £1000! And they recommend a 4-8 week stay. £4000! £8000!
If you think you’ve got a problem One Life Left would recommend switching off your computer or unplugging your console, or, if you really like playing games that much, just keep playing. You can always spend the money you’d save on this. Gross!
A preview of what we’ll be talking about for the next 12 months at the very least

Amazing!
(Yes, it is actually ours this time.We were literally flabbergasted. Thank you, thank you, thank you everyone.)
OLL top 100 games of all time final few..
The tension mounts as we near the no.1 spot! (Are you sure about that? – Everyone)
10 Half-Life 2
9 Metroid Prime
8 Super Mario Galaxy
7 Final FantasyVII
6 Monkey Island games
The final 5 will soon be revealed! What will they be?
Well No. 5 is Sensible Soccer!
Which is several Sensies mixed together of course but it all counts. Naturally the single button Amiga version was best. Definitely the best football game of all time ever!
No.4 is Katamari Damacy
Which had the honor of featuring in my very first Free Market Economy. I just went for the first one to cover them all as they are all pretty much exactly the same. Minor tweaks between them don’t make it worth biasing the vote one way or the other. Lovely to look at, awesome soundtrack, great fun to play, fully deserving of this high position.
No.3 is The Legend of Zelda :Ocarina of Time
There were lots of Zeldas voted for. Very few of you agreed on the title of this one though. There were just so many variations. Zelda: Occarina, TLOZ:OOT, The Legend of Zelda: Occarina etc.. It’s totally boring it being here of course. So terribly predictable. I kind of liked it at the time but somehow in time the memory of it has been tarnished by the likes of Dynasty Warriors being completely brilliant. Still I suppose it was a pretty impressive adventure. If you like that sort of thing. Probably worth 7/10.
No. 2 is Goldeneye
The best FPS ever and about the only one I’ve ever been able to play. The bunker level with pistols and one shot kills, no auto aim is the only honourable way to play the game. If only there weren’t complicated legal issues stopping it being remade. But then maybe something this wonderful deserves to be just preserved as it is.
And finally the best game of all time ever is….
SUPER MARIO 64!
Boooring.
Chart 100 Market Economy THE RESULTS parts 1-3!
I’ve been busy compiling all your votes the last few weeks and with the aid of SCIENCE on my side I have eventually come up with a DEFINITIVE list of the best games of all time. After all, who would know better than the listeners of One Life Left?
It’s certainly taken up more time than I expected as there were so many variations on the gamenames ( Zelda [x] , Legend of Zelda: [x], Vice City, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, GTA: Vice City for example). And of course people who couldn’t spell (Tecken indeed..).
I also took the liberty of combining certain titles. Rock Band I’ve combined with No.2 and used that. There’s no reason anyone could prefer 1 to 2 as they’re basically the same but with better organisation in the second one. The Ace Attourney games are classed under the ‘Phoenix Wright Series’ much like with the Monkey Island games. Slants toward a particular one have been noted. I’ve done the same with We Love Katamari and Katamari Damacy.
I’m still disappointed that there weren’t more votes for 8bit games and also the Warriors games. Most ill defined vote was ‘That baseball game I used to play on the gamegear’ which has obviously not made the chart.
So without further ado, here’s the first 20 games from 100 to 81
100.Resident Evil Code Veronica
99 Sonic3 & Knuckles
98 Warcraft III
97 Total Annihilation
96 Speedball 2:Brutal Deluxe
95 Sonic CD
94 Cortex Command (WIP indiegame) [Can that even be allowed ?)
93 Settlers2
92 Dystopia (SourceMod)
91 TombRaider (PS)
90 Sonic 2
89 Samurai Warirors 2 (360) (Clearly this should have been number 1)
88 Mount & Blade
87 Dancing Stage Euromix 2
86 Asteroids (arcade)
85 Quake (PC)
84 GTA:Vice City
83 Empire
82 GTA San Andreas(PS2)
81 Mario Kart 64 (Why? Isn’t this one utterly horrible? I thought it was)
So there you have it. 20 games today. And 20 more will be updated tomorrow. Possibly twice. We’ll see how much time I have.
Part 2 80-51
80 Mario & Luigi: PartnersInTime
79 Teken 2 (PS1) (Strange, I would have thought Tekken 3 was the one)
78 Half-Life
77 Syndicate (Amiga) (This should have been higher in the chart as well)
76 Guitar Hero III
75 Braid (Voting for Braid is soooo pretentious)
74 Beyond Good and Evil
73 3D Deathchase
72 Shenmue
71 Psychonauts
70 Metal Gear Solid (Borrrring. Why not just watch a film instead?)
69 Fifa09
68 Chaos (Spectrum) (Hey have you heard of http://www.wikihost.org/w/doodleblog/chaos_wars/ by OLL’s Duncan Timiney)
67 Mass Effect
66 Head Over Heels (Spectrum)
65 Oblivion
64 Castlevania : Symphony of the Night
63 StarWars (Sit Down Arcade-80s version) (It’s best when the controls work of course, unlike at Videogame Nation)
62 Lemmings (The Speccy version is best because of the way the lemmings splat, more gooey)
61 DeadSpace
60 Civilization IV (Clearly this one was out in the lead of all Civs)
59 Wi iSports (Wii) (Unnecessary identifier alert!)
58 Bioshock
57 TurboEsprit (GTA: Spectrum? Pretty much)
56 Resident Evil (Gamecube)
55 Pokemon(blue/red/yellow)
54 Mario Kart (I’ve never liked Mario Kart, you’re all wrong)
53 Left 4 Dead
52 Command & Conquer:RedAlert
51 WWF NoMercy (N64) (Pleased to see this do well as it’s the best wrestling game ever! Obviously.)
Part 3 – 50 to 11
50 Supreme Commander (PC Games are boring and rubbish, I don’t care what you say)
49 Wipe Out 2097 (Did you vote for this just because of the soundtrack?)
48 Fallout 3 (I’ve tried many times to get into this and just can’t, thus I conclude you’re all wrong)
47 Team Fortress 2
46 Ace Attourney series (DS) (They are all brilliant even if some of the art in Apollo is dodgy. I’m currently replaying 3)
45 Perfect Dark (N64) (But it only had one good level – the Blade Runner rip off..)
44 GTA III(PS2)
43 Earthbound
42 DonkeyKong’94
41 Eternal Darkness
40 Panzer Dragoon Saga (Maybe not enough of you have played this to realise it’s the best RPG ever)
39 Diddy Kong Racing (I’m now ashamed of the lot of you)
38 Worms (7/10)
37 Baldur’s Gate2
36 Super Mario Bros
35 Legend Of Zelda : Majora’s Mask
34 Gitaroo Man (Surprised to see this so high)
33 Jet Set Willy (If only I’d known it was the 33rd best game ever when I saw Matt in Manchester, I could have told him)
32 Legend Of Zelda : Link’s Awakening
31 Civilisation (Amiga) (I lost many hours to this, somehow this original version can be more appealing than later advancements)
30 Prince Of Persia : The Sands Of Time (PS2)
29 New Super Mario Bros
28 Mario Kart DS
27 Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
26 Deus Ex
25 Super Mario World (Look stoppit withe Mario and Zelda okay?)
24 Ico
23 Super Mario KaAARRRGHGH
22 GTA 4
21 StarCraft
20 Tetris
19 Chrono Trigger
18 Burnout Paradise (Are you sure? Is just because you’ve been playing it a lot recently?)
17 Advance Wars
16 ResidentEvil4
15 Rock Band 2
14 Street Fighter 2
13 Bubble Bobble
12 Super Metroid (No. You’re wrong)
11 Portal (Well maybe just because it included Still Alive which is the best video game related song ever. Probably)
For some kind of exciting gimmick which would have worked better for show 100 I’m going to update the final 10 during tomorrow night’s show. (Though by that I meant Tonight because for some reason this didn’t update properly when I did it last.)
Chart 100 Market Economy?
Hello OLLers! For episode 100 I thought it might be fun to celebrate with having a chart of the 100 best games of all time according to the listeners. Thus, if people are reading this site as much as they should be, I’ll be able to compile said chart for episode 100. Please send your 20 favouritest games in the whole wide world ever! to derek at onelifeleft dot com. Oh and do be good and put them in the order of preference.
Please note I reserve the right to put a Warriors game at the top of the charts even if you lot aren’t capable of realising they’re the best games ever.
We’re going all multimedia…
…like an old CD-ROM.
See this:
It’s a boring dark square, isn’t it? Currently. But just before 7:00pm this evening, it’ll flicker into life like when Alexander Graham Bell invented the Bluray disc. And for an hour or so, you’ll be able to view StudiOLL LIVE as we broadcast to the nation’s capital over FM and the world over the Internet.
It’s part of our ongoing commitment to break new ground in videogames radio. And it’s sure to be an unmitigated disaster.
Listening live is the only way to get the full OLL experience, before the sanitised version is set free over iTunes and that. And while you’re looking at us, be sure to be listening to us over at www.resonancefm.com. And you can chat with other OLL listeners live here: http://tinyurl.com/ollchat
See you! (Well, we won’t: but you’ll be seeing us!)
Happy ANNiversary!
It was a sunny day three years ago that we climbed the rickety stairs to the Resonance FM studio to broadcast the first, and most definitely worst, One Life Left. Actually, was it sunny? I can’t remember.
Three years on, what have we learnt? Not a lot, but we do a lot less preparation now. I’m not really selling this as progress, am I?
We’ve had a lot of fun over the past three years, and we hope you have too. So, thanks for listening or contributing (or listening and contributing), and libel suits pending, we’ll be making Europe’s only FM broadcasting videogame radio show until someone else comes along and makes it impossible to use that title anymore.
Normal service will resume shortly.
Ann, Ste + Simon
xx
