One Life Left

Definitely the UK's favourite radio show (sort of) about videogames.

Commissioned by London’s award-winning Resonance 104.4 FM in early 2006, One Life Left was only meant to run for six episodes.

Take that, The Man because now, somewhere around one hundred and fifty episodes later, it’s in its seventh season and grown from humbling, terrified, fumbling beginnings into one of the station’s most valued shows.

Take THAT, The Man. Also take that, British radio standards.

One Life Left — s05e02 — #98 — Trauma Center

It takes a special kind of show to carry off two comebacks in three weeks but here we are. After a one-week hiatus to take stock, for sale hire and fire, viagra One Life Left returns rejuvenated, discount reshaped. All three presenters are back, too. Seriously, someone needs to have a word with HR.

Still, One Life Left isn’t just Ste, Simon and Ann doing their best to make silence sound inviting. The show would be nothing without fabulous features submitted by listeners, and Episode 2 contains some of the very best. There are the beloved regulars, of course, and the return of two Season 4 favourites, but there’s also something brand new sneaks in at the end. Consider the Trauma in the title a clue.

Elsewhere, OLL’s brave experiment in listener interaction continues. The thing about listener interaction is that it requires participation from both parties. The first party — the broadcaster — requests the interaction. The second party — the listener, that’s you — responds in kind. Phone us, please. The number is in the show and Ann is waiting for your call.

Oh you didn’t play my song this time! I hoped you had meant me when you mentioned a video game song. Maybe next week? 🙂

Tried to leave phone message. Brutally ignored. Was I supposed to press something after living the message?

  5. bento says:

    Also leaving it.

  6. James says:

Loved the new trauma centre segment. The production quality and inside humour takes me back many, many seasons. What happened to that Wikipedia guy?

  7. Derek says:

The new Trauma Centre thing was brilliant in terms of production quality. You’d have thought after 4 seasons I’d get somewhere near that. Anyway I’m sure Wikipedia guy (Duncan Timiney) will be back once Gmail stops rejecting his attachments sent from hotmail.

  8. Duncan says:

Yes, Week O’ Wiki Wah Wah is ready to roll as soon as I can get the blimming thing through to the team.
