One Life Left

Definitely the UK's favourite radio show (sort of) about videogames.

Commissioned by London’s award-winning Resonance 104.4 FM in early 2006, One Life Left was only meant to run for six episodes.

Take that, The Man because now, somewhere around one hundred and fifty episodes later, it’s in its seventh season and grown from humbling, terrified, fumbling beginnings into one of the station’s most valued shows.

Take THAT, The Man. Also take that, British radio standards.

Challenge Ann #2: Bringing down Gamestation

I have to congratulate Gamestation for responding to my email individually. Were I to work in the customer services department of an annoyingly marketed videogame retailer I don’t think I’d give stupid emails quite so much care or consideration.

But did I manage to bring them down? Or was all I got a fairly boring email?

Dear Ann, pharm

Thanks for your recent enquiry. Everyone at Gamestation is working to deliver gaming for less this Christmas. The Gears of War 2 bundle that you mention is a great example – it launched at £79.99, sickness reduced from £130 – and our customers loved it as it was a limited edition.

Fat Chris has been the Gamestation Christmas mascot for three years now and is much loved by our customers (there are several “Fat Chris” appreciation groups online). Gamestation is very proud to be an equal opportunities employer.

Yours Sincerely,

The Gamestation Team

What did we expect? That, I guess.

Thanks Gamestation! My rage comes and goes, so who knows when you’ll be back on my list, but for now, you’re in the clear.

Next stop – Operation Free Bar!

Jesus Christ, Ann. You got £50 off the price of that pointless tat, isn’t that enough? There’s no satifying some people.

Despite being owned by Game now, I don’t think GameStation are that bad. Yes the used game mark up is equally evil, but at least they pay better than most shops and stalls, an there does seem to be a semblance of independance as you don’t see hapless parents being threatened with pre-orders and Strategy guides.
