Losing things at the GMAs
We lost some stuff at the GMAs last night. Dignity and pride, of course, but there was very little of that to begin with. Oh, and some award or something, but that got dealt with as you will find out in due course. But my voice. I lost my voice. I lost it somewhere between meeting Simon, Ste, our ‘producer’ Laura and Tom Bramwell from that website that actually did win something in the pub and leaving Simon on the floor (which he doesn’t remember) and not saying goodbye to anyone. Probably because I didn’t have a voice.
We had a nice time, sort of. We had a drunk time definitely. We had a loud time, shouting at each other, comedians, award winners, people we knew, people we didn’t know, people we know now who wish they didn’t know us. And it doesn’t really matter that we didn’t win the award (it clearly does!) because we technically, technically won more awards than anyone else. We got 3 on-stage shout outs from other award winners and that’s basically a win in itself.
And this:
If you can’t beat them, steal, smash or deface their awards.
Award#1 – One Life Left: Best Specialist Games Writer Online!

We love Gibbo, obviously, and were really happy when she won her award, and even happier when she thanked One Life Left, but it was too easy scribbling GibbOne Life Left.
Award#2 – One Life Left: Best Regional Games Columnist
Like stealing candy from a Scottish baby.
Award#3 – One Life Left: Best Games Magazine!
Well, that was quite a mess to clear up.
Award#4 – One Life Left: Best Games Media Legend!
This man was just looking after the award. Not looking after it very well, were you, man?
Award#5 – One Life Left: Best Broadcast!
They said we couldn’t do it. We did.
So we totally cleaned up at the awards! Well done team OLL! We want to thank our lovely listeners, our amazing contributors, and our parol officers.
Next year maybe we’ll just be losing our voices.

You should blog more often, Ann! Awesome work.
Who cares what they say, you all won in our hearts <3
The lads look well chuffed.
I’m actually a bit confused. Does that mean you didn’t win anything? Oh well, screw that. Your show/podcast is the bestist produced, most enjoyablerer (ahem, apart from the paedo/gayrape contributions that is) and well, most laid back games media show (audio or video) that i check in with every week.
Despite my recent complaint i think they guys are really good at radio and you are really charming Scanters.
You look like Sarah Ferguson in those pics. Or should i say Juliane Moore or Queen Buddica (do you know who she is as Ste would probably ask).
Keep at it crew.
Well done Team @ One Life Left for losing with grace, style, magnanimity & wit!! You sure had a good time and should probably have won all those awards. Although without being in the running that might have been difficult: shame about the one you could have won though.
Keep up the good work, you KNOW how good you really are
Hugs to all

Brilliant pics, I wondered why you guys kept trying to steal my award, it all made sense after a while
Great blog post Ann, was great meeting you guys.
Dave
Glad to see that you didn’t come away empty handed people
. Looks like it was a fun night all around.
Looking at the pictures, one thing in particular struck me and caused a wide grin to crack across my face. The final shot of all three OLL crew members together. Now I’m not too great at spotting industry people. I know names, but not faces. However, that guy in back of the shot (green shirt, red trousers) is officially my hero. Not only is his shirt the bee’s knees, but he looks like he’s having the time of his life!
As I said, I haven’t a clue whether he’s an industry ‘professional’ or just a random person that got caught in a photo unawares to himself (probably a safe bet). But One Life Left I implore you, if you know the identity of that man, get him on the show because he looks like he’d be a riot!
Love the show, keep up the good work.
That’s Gary Bloody Penn! Former Games Media Legend. (Current in our eyes, obv.) Official pal of OLL.
I remain extremely pleased the One Life Left team feature in my Free Market Economy. I voted for them and my vote should count as I’m definitely in the games industry.
Sorry Ann, but these photos are crap. Whilst we can see your not-bad dress we can’t see the shoes that you spent so much time choosing.
Size 7/10.
