One Life Left

Definitely the UK's favourite radio show (sort of) about videogames.

Commissioned by London’s award-winning Resonance 104.4 FM in early 2006, One Life Left was only meant to run for six episodes.

Take that, The Man because now, somewhere around one hundred and fifty episodes later, it’s in its seventh season and grown from humbling, terrified, fumbling beginnings into one of the station’s most valued shows.

Take THAT, The Man. Also take that, British radio standards.

One Life Left Returns!

Europe’s favourite Videogame Radio Show begins Fourth Season tonight, promises music, laughter, vaguely-related videogame stuff

Listen up, lifers: One Life Left makes its eagerly anticipated return to air tonight, broadcasting live from 7PM on Resonance 104.4FM. Presented by Ste Curran (Creative Director at Zoë Mode), Simon Byron (Director at Barrington Harvey) and Ann Scantlebury (unemployed, looking), the publicly-acclaimed programme uses videogames as a starting point for discussion, debate and pretty awful puns, and mixes videogame music with specially recorded mini-features from the OLL cast of secret games industry contributors. The show’s return means new content from favourites like the doyouinverts, Craig ‘The Rage’ McClelland and Derek Williams’ Free Market Economy, as well as a host of brand new stars in the making too.

“We’re so excited to be back, and not just because that means we’ve finally settled last season’s lawsuits,” commented Ste Curran. “We’ve got the finest contributor line up we’ve ever had and a new, earlier timeslot in which to fail at avoiding swearing. Anyone with a radio in London should look forward to a new run of Monday evenings full of gaming gossip and mild technical incompetence!”

Listeners outside of London won’t have to wait too long for their next fix of the puerile threesome, either. The long running radio show is podcast the following day at www.onelifeleft.com, and regularly topped the iTunes rankings for downloads through Apple’s portal during its third season. Its online success brought a nomination for Best Broadcast at the Games Media Awards, an award the team are very excited about.

“We intend to win this award,” commented Simon Byron. “Please go to our site and vote for us. We have no problems with using Ann as a bribe.”

Finally, if digital interaction isn’t enough, fans will soon have another chance to party with One Life Left in real life. Following successful broadcasts from Develop, Nordic Game and the Edinburgh Festival, the team are planning something very special at Nottingham Game City.

“I’m confused and terrified,” commented Ann Scantlebury. “And my Xbox 360 Elite has stopped working sad smiley face.”

Details on that later; Curran, Scantlebury and Byron are all available for quotes / comments / interviews right now. Use the contact form on the One Life Left website and they’ll call you straight back.
